HLTAID004 Provides an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.
The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.
- $120 for 1 day course with pre-study
- $160 for 2 days course
Please note it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor.
- Over two (2) days, a total of 12-hours duration, consisting of both theoretical and practical learning plus eight (8) hours of self-paced learning.
- Over one (1) day following satisfactory completion of a pre-course workbook – submitted a minimum of five (5) days prior to face-to-face session.
This course is delivered on any day of the week. Two (2) day courses can be scheduled on consecutive days or non consecutive days to meet the need of the student(s).

There are no prerequisites for this course.
The recommended industry standard for maintaining current competency for this course is to be refreshed every 3 years with the CPR component refreshed every 12 months.
Students will be assessed through the demonstration of practical skills, participation in role plays, analysis of case studies and written answers.
On successful completion of this training course, students will be issued with up to date certification – a nationally recognized Statement of Attainment for HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting.
